Join us for the 2023 Child Health Equity Summit. The mission of the Child Health Equity Center is to advance child health equity locally, nationally, and globally — particularly for children who have been most disadvantaged by poverty and systemic racism — through novel and groundbreaking research and programs that transform healthcare systems and public policy.
To achieve our mission, we host an annual Child Health Equity Summit designed to bring together child health equity leaders and stakeholders to discuss the threats to child health in the Worcester, Massachusetts area and beyond.
Last year, our Summit focused on the Root Causes of poor health, specifically adverse social determinants of health, including racism and poverty. Attendees learned about how adverse social determinants of health impact child health over the life course.
This year, we are taking our work a step further, focusing on Words and Actions – we will be hearing from individuals with lived expertise on a variety of topics related to child health equity, including trauma and substance use disorders as well as policy and public health experts who will provide us with the tools necessary to take action to promote child health equity.
The goal of the summit is to provide attendees with an interactive, multi-day format designed to foster open dialogue and engagement. We plan to draft a strategic plan to address the adverse social determinants of health in Worcester and beyond; establish a new Community Advisory Board to guide multi-sector partnerships aimed at driving child health equity advancement; and engage attendees in identifying metrics to track progress.
If you are passionate about child health equity, please join us May 18th – 19th from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at The AC Hotel in Worcester (125 Front Street).
